Simple Video - One-Click Video Import for Unreal Engine 5

Bringing footage into Unreal takes a ton of steps. This plugin turns that into two clicks. Works with Unreal Engine 5.3 - 5.4 - 5.5 - 5.6 - 5.7 & 5.8 How it works Have a Level Sequence open Click Simple Video → Import as Translucent or Import as Additive Pick your video The plane spawns right in front of your sequence's camera, facing the lens, auto-scaled to the video's aspect ratio, with the correct material wired up, and the clip is already added to your open sequence. Plates auto-hide outside their clip: hidden until the video starts, gone when it ends. No need to set manual visibility keys. The plug-in auto-organizes Everything lands in Content/Videos/<YourVideoFileName>/ Source, Player, Texture and Material, all named after the video file One shared Source and Master Material per video, plus per-plate Player, Texture, and Material Instance - every asset named after the video file Spawnable binding goes straight into a "Footage" folder inside the sequencer Need the same clip again? Click Reuse - in a different sequence it references the existing assets (zero duplicates), and in the same sequence it forks a fresh player so the two plates play independently. Material with tweakable parameters per instance Translucent - RGB → Emissive, A → Opacity (clean alpha plates) Additive - Color tint + EmissionStrength dial for explosions, magic, sparks Smart per-codec player routing UE5 ships with two media backends: WmfMedia (H.264, MJPEG) and Electra Player (ProRes, modern codecs). They don't always cooperate. Simple Video detects each file's codec via ffprobe and pins it to the backend that decodes it, so your MJPEG and ProRes plates both play without manual fiddling. Requirements Unreal Engine 5.3 – 5.8 (separate version bundled for each - pick at install) Python Editor Script Plugin (enabled by default) Media Framework + Electra Player (default UE plugins) Optional: ffmpeg/ffprobe on PATH for auto-codec routing
